The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a premier youth organization in India that aims to develop character, discipline, and leadership qualities among young people. The NCC provides an excellent platform for college students to participate in various activities that enhance their overall personality development. The NCC is a voluntary organization and the training provided is free of cost.

The NCC has a strong presence in colleges across the country and it offers various opportunities for college students to participate in activities such as drill, shooting, physical training and adventure activities such as trekking and mountaineering. The training is designed to develop qualities such as leadership, teamwork, self-confidence and a sense of social responsibility. The NCC also organizes various camps which provide opportunities for cadets to interact with peers from different regions learn new skills and participate in community service activities.

The NCC also provides opportunities for college students to participate in national and international level competitions and events such as the Republic Day parade, the Prime Minister's Rally and the All India NCC Camp. These events provide a platform for students to showcase their skills and interact with cadets from different regions of the country.

Apart from the training activities, the NCC also promotes social and environmental awareness among cadets. It organizes activities such as blood donation drives, tree plantation drives, and awareness campaigns on social issues such as drug abuse, HIV/AIDS, and gender equality.

Being associated with the NCC is a matter of pride for any college student, and it is a great opportunity to develop oneself into a responsible citizen of the country. Aim & Objectives

Character Building:

The NCC aims to inculcate a sense of discipline, punctuality and responsibility among cadets. The training provided by the NCC is designed to develop qualities such as courage, integrity and a sense of social responsibility among cadets.

Leadership Development

The NCC aims to develop leadership qualities among college students through various training activities such as drill, physical training and adventure activities such as trekking and mountaineering.

National Integration:

The NCC aims to promote national integration by providing a platform for students from different regions and backgrounds to come together and participate in activities that foster a sense of unity and national pride.

Social Awareness:

The NCC aims to promote social awareness among college students by organizing activities such as blood donation drives, tree plantation drives, and awareness campaigns on social issues such as drug abuse, HIV/AIDS, and gender equality.

Skill Development

The NCC aims to provide opportunities for college students to develop new skills and participate in national and international level competitions and events, such as the Republic Day parade, the Prime Minister's Rally and the All India NCC Camp.

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) promotes the following core values among its cadets:

Through its various training activities, NCC aims to instill these values in its cadets, preparing them for a successful future.
  • Intake Capacity

  • The total intake capacity is 106 Cadets for three training years. Out of 106 cadets 53 seats for Senior Division (Boys) and 53 Seats for Senior Wing (Girls).
  • Training in NCC

  • The training in the NCC army wing is divided into two main components - institutional training and camp training.
  • Institutional Training: Training

  • organized in colleges as parades on a weekly basis.
  • Camp Training:

  • Formal training is organized as camps of 10-12 days duration. Attachment Training. Formal training is organized by attachment with Army units or with officer training academies like Indian Military Academy (IMA) and the Officers Training Academy (OTA). Some of the key aspects of training in the NCC army wing include:
  • Physical Training

    The training focuses on improving physical fitness, endurance and strength through activities such as running, obstacle courses and other physical exercises.

    Weapon Training:

    Cadets are trained in handling and firing different types of weapons including rifles.

    Drill and Ceremonial Training:

    Cadets learn the basic drill movements, marching and ceremonial procedures that are an essential part of military life.

    Map Reading and Navigation:

    Cadets are trained in reading maps and using a compass to navigate in the field.

    Leadership Training:

    Cadets are taught the principles of leadership including communication, decision-making, teamwork and given opportunities to practice and develop these skills. The training in the NCC army wing is designed to be rigorous and challenging but also fun and rewarding. Through the training cadets learn valuable life skills and develop a sense of discipline, responsibility and patriotism preparing them for a successful future.

  • Drill and Physical Training NCC cadets are trained in physical fitness and drill exercises. The NCC unit organizes regular drills and PT sessions for the cadets to keep them physically fit and disciplined.
  • Adventure Activities: NCC cadets are also trained in adventure activities like trekking, mountaineering, rock climbing and river rafting. The NCC unit organizes such activities for its cadets to develop their spirit of adventure and outdoor skills.
  • Social and Community Service: NCC cadets are encouraged to participate in social and community service activities like blood donation camps, tree plantation drives, HIV/AIDS awareness rally, Drug-free campaign, Beti bachao Beti padhav rally, International Yoga Day, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Pulse Polio Programme, Environmental Awareness Programme, Mega pollution awareness programme, Road Safety Programme, ODF (Open Defecation Free) Rally Etc. and cleanliness campaigns. The NCC unit organizes such events to develop a sense of responsibility and service among the cadets.
  • Competitions and Camps: NCC cadets can participate in various competitions and camps organized by the NCC at the state and national levels. The NCC unit encourages its cadets to participate in such events to showcase their skills and talent.
  • Training and Workshops: NCC units organize training and workshops for their cadets on various topics like leadership, personality development and self-defense. The NCC unit provides such training and workshops to develop the personality of the cadets and make them more confident and responsible citizens.
  • Celebrating National Days:NCC units organize events and activities to celebrate national days like Independence Day, Republic Day, Labour Day, Kargil Vijay Diva, Constitution Day and Gandhi Jayanti. The NCC unit participates in parades and flag-hoisting ceremonies to showcase their patriotism and respect for the nation.
  • Guest Lectures: NCC units invite guest speakers to give lectures on topics related to national security, defense and leadership. The NCC unit organizes such lectures to inspire the cadets and enhance their knowledge and understanding of various issues. These are some of the activities run by NCC units to develop the overall personality of the cadets and make them responsible and disciplined citizens of the country.
  • Enrollment Eligibility

    To be eligible to enroll in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in junior/ senior college, a person must meet the following basic eligibility criteria:

  • Age: The applicant must be between the ages of 16.5 and 25 years.
  • Educational Qualification: The applicant must be enrolled as a student in a junior/ senior college or university.
  • Physical Fitness: The applicant must meet the physical fitness standards set by the NCC. They must be able to participate in physical training activities, drills, and adventure activities.
  • Good Conduct: The applicant must have good character and conduct. They should not have a criminal record or be involved in any anti-social activities.
  • Medical Fitness: The applicant must be medically fit and should not have any physical or mental disabilities that would prevent them from participating in NCC activities.
  • Citizenship: The applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • It is important to note that these are basic eligibility criteria, and additional criteria may apply depending on the specific requirements of the NCC unit. It is advisable to check with the local NCC unit for more information about the eligibility criteria and the enrollment process.

    Eligibilities for Certificate Examination

    The eligibility criteria for appearing in the B and C Certificate Examination in NCC are as follows:

    ‘B Certificate Examination’

    a. NCC Training:

    The cadet must have undergone a minimum of two years of NCC training and attended a minimum of 75% of the total training periods laid down by the NCC.

    ‘C Certificate Examination’

    a. NCC Training:

    The cadet must have undergone a minimum of three years of NCC training, including two years of senior division training and attended a minimum of 75% of the total training periods laid down by the NCC.

    b. 'B' Certificate:

    The cadet must have obtained the B Certificate. It is important to note that these are the basic eligibility criteria and there may be additional requirements depending on the specific rules and regulations of the NCC unit. Additionally, cadets must also meet the physical fitness and character requirements as laid down by the NCC.
