About the Competition:

KarmaveerBhausahebHiray was a veteran educationist, social reformer, prophetic visionary, distinguished statesman, who rendered unprecedented services in the field of education, agriculture, co-operation, social justice, and politics. He is called as the father of the Tenancy Act that enabled thousands of farmers to become owners of the land. Through the establishment of Adivasi SevaSamiti and Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir, he started many primary and secondary schools, Boarding schools and Higher Education Institutes.

In the memory of Late LokneteVyankatraojiHiray, Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir’s Maharaja Sayajirao Gaikwad Arts, Science and Commerce College, Malegaon Camp, Dist. Nashik organizes a State Level Inter Collegiate Debate Competition. Our college is graced by the vision and glory of KarmaveerBhausahebHiray who founded two educational institutions AdiwasiSevaSamiti and Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir in 1945 and 1952 respectively. The motto of the Institution is ‘BahujanHitayBahujanSukhay’.

This is the only debate competition in Maharashtra which is being organized in five languages viz. Marathi, Hindi & English, Urdu/Persian &Ahirani since 1973-74. The list of distinguished dignitaries who have honored the competition.

Through this debate competition the college is providing today’s youth a platform to argue logically and courteously on the contemporary issues affecting social, political, cultural, economic and ethical development of the nation. The topic selected for the academic year 2022-23 is “Population Control Bill and Uniform Civil Code areInevitable for National Integration.”
