Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir, Malegaon Camp owes its existence to the inspiration, pioneering work and farsightedness of its founder, Late Karmaveer Bhausaheb Hiray, a staunch freedom fighter, one of the pioneers of forming of Maharashtra state and co-operative movement in Nashik District, an educationist and Ex-Revenue minister of the then Bombay province. He has founded the two well- known educational institutions in Nashik District, viz., "Adivasi Seva Samiti" in 1945 and "Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir" in 1952. The major objective of these institutions was to provide the educational facilities to the masses from all the spheres of society.

Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir has a perspective to become an excellent institution in higher education that continually strives to provide quality higher education. The Institution also nurtures the moral values amongst its students; creating people-centered, ecologically sustainable and just society that promotes and protects dignity, equality, social justice and scientific attitude.

In 1959, Late Karmaveer Bhausaheb Hiray started M. S. G. Arts, Science and Commerce College at Malegaon. It is a pioneering college of the parent Institute to serve the society by disseminating quality higher education along with the multifaceted development of our students to make them globally competent. Since its inception the college has been persistently pursuing the parent institute’s motto “Bahujan Hitay, Bahujan Sukhay” and responding to the acute need of education of young generation of the peasants, tribals, landless workers, poor and downtrodden masses. This gave a great boost to all the students in North Maharashtra to achieve their much-cherished goal of higher education.
